Yuga Labs has been involved in some legal drama over the years, from being investigated by the SEC to its back-and-forth with Ryder Ripps. However, its latest in-court development is thankfully a positive one. This comes as the company has settled its lawsuit with Thomas Lehman, a developer who infamously created the RR/BAYC NFT collection.

Yuga Labs Celebrates Milestone With Historic Lawsuit Resolution

Yuga Labs’ Legal Win

The RR/BAYC collection is the lookalike collection run by Ryder Ripps, a creator who has a difficult history with Yuga Labs and its founders. The two have an ongoing lawsuit in which Ripps is being accused of copyright infringement. Lehman, on the other hand, has settled with Yuga Labs and apologized to the company.

“It was never my intention to harm Yuga Labs’s brand, and I reject all disparaging statements made about Yuga Labs and its founders and appreciate their many positive contributions to the NFT space,” he said.

He certainly had a lot to gain from the project which used both the initials and the imagery of the original Bored Ape project, as he received 15% of the royalties. Along with this statement, Lehman has forfeited any rights to use the Bored Ape name or likeness moving forward.

Ripps, however, does not seem to be backing down in his claims against Yuga Labs and is continuing with his lawsuit.
