Sky Mavis Promise Refunds To The Victims Of The Ronin Breach | NFT News

Sky Mavis, the company behind the hit play-to-earn game Axie Infinity has pledged to refund all victims affected by the recent hack. According to the Sky Mavis team, funds stolen in the hack include player deposits and Axie Infinity treasury revenue.

“We are fully committed to reimbursing our players as soon as possible,” Aleksander Leonard Larsen, chief operating officer of Sky Mavis, told Bloomberg. The team has been very public in its response to the Ronin Network breach.

Axie Infinity has been one of the most prominent crypto games over the past year. Early adopters have been able to sustain significant amounts of secondary income while playing. In the past month alone, 2.6 million users have played Axie Infinity.

Sky Mavis Looks to Learn From This and Move Forward

Ronin Network is an Ethereum sidechain that Sky Mavis built specifically for the blockchain game Axie Infinity. According to Sky Mavis, the hacker managed to use hacked private keys to forge fake withdrawals. After, going on to steal $600M worth of crypto assets.

The Ronin Network will now require 8 nodes for transactions. Additionally, the network will stay closed until the team is certain it is secure.

This is the second major network hack in the past couple of months. The first was the Solana wormhole attack, which saw around $320M worth of wETH stolen.

One of the most important aspects of any successful game is sustaining user demand. The Axie Infinity team is very wary of the damage this hack may have caused to loyal users. Therefore, they are committed to making everyone whole and returning stolen assets.
