In honor of the most famous Brazilian Carnival, two of the biggest metaverses, Decentraland and Upland, are coming together to bring the festivities to the virtual space on Thursday, February 16. Upland, the virtual property trading game built on blockchain, and Decentraland, the decentralized virtual world, are joining forces to bring the most immersive and exciting virtual experience possible. With the power of Web3 Metaverses, the two platforms are breaking down barriers and reinforcing the interoperability dream, allowing users worldwide to watch the highlights of the Carnival from the streets of Salvador, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

“This is an early example of the future, where interoperability between worlds and metaverses fuels enrichment in a user’s digital life,” said Dirk Lueth, Co-Founder of Upland. “Major cultural moments like Carnival are tentpoles for opportunities to continue to explore this inevitable future.”

The Brazilian Carnival is a world-famous celebration of life, culture, and music that usually attracts millions of people to the streets of Brazil. However, due to the pandemic, the event was canceled in 2021. To keep the Carnival spirit alive, Decentraland and Upland are taking the party to the Metaverse, offering a unique and interactive way to participate in the festivities. The virtual Brazilian Carnival will take place throughout February 2023. Anyone can participate and watch the highlights by visiting the Carnival District in Decentraland or the virtual Palace of Samba in Upland.

Upland And Decentraland Bring The Brazilian Carnival To The Metaverse

Upland and Decentraland Making Moves About the Brazilian’s Festival

Upland metaverse has an exciting agenda for the Brazilian Carnival, including carnival schools, street carnivals, shows, and live broadcasts. The 2023 samba presentation from Mangueira, the largest Samba school in Brazil, is one of the event’s highlights. Visitors can enjoy an immersive experience at the Palace of Samba, a 3D replica of Mangueira’s samba sanctuary in the famous Mangueira neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Located at the same address in real life and the Metaverse, this three-dimensional replica of Mangueira’s samba sanctuary offers a Behind the Scenes experience, where visitors can learn about the history of the school and this year’s samba while dancing with their avatars.

Decentraland, the innovative and exciting platform, is the perfect virtual space that will allow users to experience the Brazilian Carnival like never before. In the Carnival District, users can fully immerse themselves in the celebration with their avatars, dancing to the rhythm of Brazilian music and enjoying the colorful parade of samba schools. The newly released collection of samba movements (emojis) and other traditional festival elements will further enhance the experience for users.

Mangueira, the famous samba school, receives a special homage in one of the Decentraland Carnival bulletins. Participants can also view pictures of the twenty titles won by the pink and green samba school, adding to the immersive experience of the Carnival. Additionally, some well-known digital influencers like Nina Verso and Tang Poko will interact with visitors at the dollhouse party venue, making the virtual experience even more exciting.

The event organizers believe that bringing the Brazilian Carnival to the Metaverse is an excellent opportunity to showcase the potential of virtual worlds and connect people from different parts of the world. The event is expected to draw thousands of attendees worldwide, bringing the spirit of Carnival to their homes.
