Music streaming platform, Spotify, is experimenting with token-gated playlists that allow NFT holders to connect their wallets and enjoy curated music from their communities. For now, the service is only available to a few select NFT projects, including, Fluf, Moonbirds, Kingship, and Overlord and is accessible to NFT holders in the US, UK, Australia, Germany, and New Zealand.

That said, the curated playlists will be continuously updated during the three-month testing period, and NFT holders from qualifying communities will be able to access them using a unique link.

Overlord, a Web3 gaming and media universe, was one of the first to break the exciting news to its community. In a tweet, the project notes that holders of its Creepz NFTs can connect their Web3 wallets on Spotify and access its community-curated “Invasion” playlist.

Kingship, the NFT band backed by Universal Music Group, was also quick to share the good news with its community. The project revealed that it has created a token-gated playlist for holders of its NFTs. The playlist features popular acts such as Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Queen, and Led Zeppelin.

Spotify Aims To Improve User Experience On Its Platform

Speaking on the new experiment, a spokesperson for Spotify notes that the platform “routinely conducts a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience.”  Before adding, “Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience, and others serve only as important learnings.”

For now, though, it is not clear if the platform will broadly roll out the feature or not. This will be heavily influenced by how the NFT community reacts to the feature.
