NFT platform OneOf are partnering with the estate of The Notorious B.I.G to release an NFT collection in honour of the late hip-hop legend. The collection, which was announced 25 years to-the-day since the tragic drive-by shooting which killed the rapper, is aptly entitled ‘The Notorious B.I.G.- 25th Anniversary’.
Minted on Tezos, the NFTs will imprint Biggie’s seismic impact on music and pop culture onto the blockchain forever, giving fans the opportunity to honour, share, and celebrate his legacy indefinitely. As of now, the collection’s release date and specific attributes are yet to be announced, however fans can register for updates and alerts by visiting OneOf’s website.
What we do know for certain is that a portion of the proceeds raised in the collection’s drop will be donated to the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation, which was founded by his mother, Voletta Wallace, in the same year as his passing.
In wake of the collection’s announcement, Wallace has since spoken on what the endeavour will bring to her son’s dedicated fan base, which continues to grow throughout his posthumous career: “We are excited about our partnership with OneOf and their expertise to memorialize my son Christopher with this first official NFT drop to give his fans an opportunity to participate in and honor their love of him and his music”.
