Over recent weeks, eminent blockchain gaming developer, Gala Games, has teased a new title under the codename ‘Project Saturn’. As it turns out, this mighty operation in fact represents a Battlestar Galactica-themed Web3 4x MMO.
Taking its cues from the 2004 reimagining of the popular show, the game will occur 40 years after the first Cylon war. Therefore, players will find themselves scattered throughout the galaxy, where they must engage in an embittered battle of strategy in order to reclaim the 12 colonies.
Gala Games will develop the title in collaboration with IP holder Universal, and fellow Web3 specialists, Revolving Games, building out an expansive empire-building grand-strategy experience, as it expands on the popular science-fiction television series. It will provide an immersive environment where fans can relive the excitement of the show, all powered by the exceptional technology of Web3 and non-fungible tokens.

So far, two NFTs have appeared on the marketplace in the shape of Battlestar Galactica chests. There are 1,000 ‘Conquest Chests’ available, containing an epic level Jupiter class Battlestar, while an additional 390 ‘Colonial Chests’ provide the rank of epic ‘Colonial Representative’, that enables further in-game perks. Furthermore, both items also maintain an outside chance of containing legendary items.
So, fire up the old Viper and go decimate some of those pesky Cylons!
