Anyone who follows international news would have heard of the American whistleblower, Edward Snowden. A controversial character, he revealed in 2013 that the National Security Agency (NSA) in his home country was spying on its citizens. Since then, he has lived in Russia and remains a polarizing figure in world politics.

Now, almost a decade later, he has announced a new project within the NFT world with an asset created alongside political activist and fellow whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.

Details About the Project

It is worth noting that this is not Snowden’s first NFT project, as he previously sold an asset called “Stay Free” in April 2021. In fact, it was when the Web3 collective, PleasrDAO, purchased “Stay Free” that they came into contact with him. Now, almost 2 years later, they will host a live stream called “PleasrHouse” with the two whistleblowers, which will culminate in the live sale of the NFT. Afterward, the team will use the proceeds to fund Snowden and Ellsberg’s respective causes.

The new asset “Wouldn’t You Go to Prison to Help End This War?” takes its inspiration from Ellsberg’s leaking of the Pentagon Papers back in the 1970s. The first episode of the live stream will air at 3PM EST on January 12, 2022, and will feature the auction of this new asset.

“We had been working on a Web3 auction house, and this piece was a perfect fit for the inaugural episode,” said  PleasrDAO Head of Marketing Chris Eberle.
